I’m Sarah.

After graduating college, I worked as a TV news reporter at an NBC affiliate outside of Chicago. I then retired from that life to be a stay at home mom to my three little ones. While at home I was able to rekindle my love for decorating and crafts. A blog seemed like the perfect place to share those ideas. There is inspiration everywhere, I hope you find some here.

a week of best bites

Every once in a while, I change things up and do a whole week of new recipes or a certain theme of meals, like once I did a week of grilling, another time I did a week of sandwiches. Last week I got all the recipes for our meals from our best bites. I have two sister-in-laws who always say good things about this website, so I thought I would give it a try. Here are some of the recipes I tried out:
The Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie

It was of course delicious, but next time, I will not add the nuts. And let it cool a little before you dive right in, the texture was much better after it cooled.

Peter's Lasagna

I had been wanting to make a lasagna for a really long time. I also made the pasta sauce that it recommends. This is actually the first time I have ever made lasagna with meat before because we don't eat a lot of meat, but it was really good. I think the best lasagna I have ever had.

Spinach and Feta Pasta
We love feta cheese and so we knew this one would be delicious and it was. I left out the mushrooms though.

Pineapple Bacon Burgers
This tastes a lot like a burger I get when I go to Red Robin. Messy, yummy BBQ goodness.

Black Beans and Lime Cilantro Rice with Pineapple
When I lived in Brazil I ate beans and rice every day... seriously... every day. So I love a good dish of beans and rice. This one did not disappoint. I love the pineapple in the rice.
