I’m Sarah.

After graduating college, I worked as a TV news reporter at an NBC affiliate outside of Chicago. I then retired from that life to be a stay at home mom to my three little ones. While at home I was able to rekindle my love for decorating and crafts. A blog seemed like the perfect place to share those ideas. There is inspiration everywhere, I hope you find some here.

canning applesauce

canning applesauce

It's that time of year again, that I turn my kitchen to a sticky mess, cover my stove top with boiled over apple juice... and can some applesauce. This year I had a little helper with me, which was kind of fun because I remember canning applesauce with my mom. So I made sure to let Jackson have some fun, playing with all the apples in the sink, turning the food mill to process the applesauce and of course, eating a big bowl of the first applesauce made. I want to make sure he has the same fun experience as I did as a kid.
I simply 1. cut the apples in quarters, with skins and seeds still intact. 2. Threw them in a pot of boiling water. 3. When they were soft enough put them through the food mill. 4. I add red hots for some flavor. 5. I used the water bath method for canning them.
{I also made some with out red hots for Elly}
