I’m Sarah.

After graduating college, I worked as a TV news reporter at an NBC affiliate outside of Chicago. I then retired from that life to be a stay at home mom to my three little ones. While at home I was able to rekindle my love for decorating and crafts. A blog seemed like the perfect place to share those ideas. There is inspiration everywhere, I hope you find some here.

I have been sewing basic things for a few years now. I love being able to make and personalize things that I normally wouldn't be able to find. But I am still definitely a beginner. So when I was sent this book Sewing Machine Repair for the Home Sewer, I was pretty excited. I have had my share of disagreements with my sewing machine and usually at the worst times, like when I am almost finished with a project. And it ends up taking me so much more time to complete it. And guess what one of YOU can get your own copy!

This book is a guide for the average person like me to help with common sewing machine problems. All sewing machines are a bit different, but this book does a good job of generalizing it enough that you can really use the tips for any machine. Recently I had a problem with my bobbin and had to take it in to have a repair man fix it. I think this book would have helped me avoid that.

One thing that often happens to me is that the upper or lower thread breaks, so with this book, you can just go to the table of contents and it directs you to the page to fix that problem. Usually it's because my tension isn't correct, so then it tells me how to fix it. Did you know that there are different sizes and ways to thread a bobbin... a wrong way and a right way... I do it the "wrong" way all the time

This is a great resource for an at home sewer, especially a beginner who hasn't quite worked out all the ins and outs of their sewing machine. Of course there will still be times when you need to take it in to a repair man, but this book tells you how to solve the most common sewing machine hiccups.

{Disclosure: I received products to write my review, however all of the opinions are my own}
