I’m Sarah.

After graduating college, I worked as a TV news reporter at an NBC affiliate outside of Chicago. I then retired from that life to be a stay at home mom to my three little ones. While at home I was able to rekindle my love for decorating and crafts. A blog seemed like the perfect place to share those ideas. There is inspiration everywhere, I hope you find some here.

ITALIAN HOT CHOCOLATE

ITALIAN HOT CHOCOLATE

I am a fan of hot chocolate and one day while at the store, I saw some hot chocolate in a can labeled "drinking chocolate." I was in the international foods section so I got excited thinking that it was the really thick hot chocolate they have in Europe... I was so disappointed when I got home and realized it was just powder-if only I spoke Italian I could have read the label and saved myself some money :) But in the meantime, I was so excited to drink some thick hot chocolate, I decided to just look a recipe and make my own. I chose

recipe to follow. And while looking through these recipes, I realized that "hot cocoa" is made from powder, and "hot chocolate" is actual melted chocolate. I just called everything hot chocolate- little did I know it was such a faux pas. This hot chocolate was so rich and thick, just amazing! Perfect for dipping Italian cookies in.

Italian Hot Chocolate Recipe:

4 oz Bittersweet chocolate 70% or higher

1 1/2 cups whole milk

2 tbls white sugar

2 tsp corn starch

Put the chocolate and a touch of milk in to a saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until melted. Slowly add the remaining milk and stir until combined. Add the sugar and stir to combine. Whisk in the corn starch. Continue cooking over low heat until it becomes thick and creamy and coats the back of the wooden spoon.

I added a few chocolate shreds in there and that's it. So delicious and perfect for these cold winter days.
