I’m Sarah.

After graduating college, I worked as a TV news reporter at an NBC affiliate outside of Chicago. I then retired from that life to be a stay at home mom to my three little ones. While at home I was able to rekindle my love for decorating and crafts. A blog seemed like the perfect place to share those ideas. There is inspiration everywhere, I hope you find some here.

DIY CAKE STAND

I love using cake stands and have quite the collection of DIY ones. Recently I have seen a lot of bowls like this with wood on the bottom and glass on top. So I decided to transition that concept in to a cake stand.

I bought the glass plate for a couple of dollars at Target and my husband cut this piece of wood from a 4x4. I then stained it a dark walnut color.

I then put some clear, strong, all purpose glue on the top of the wood piece and glued it to the bottom of the plate. So easy!

I used the cake stand for my three-year-old's birthday cake. A delicious vanilla bean cake with white chocolate ganache and strawberries inside. Here is the recipe if you are curious :) And I used gold cake plates I received from WholePort.
